James Wong
The managing director of Chung Ying Restaurants and winner of business man of the year 2016.
James has worked for the family business for over 20 years, working his way up to Managing Director. He is extremely passionate about all his roles within the business and the local community. He works tirelessly to ensure the quality of food at Chung Ying restaurants maintains its outstanding reputation, but also remains heavily involved in community work. He donates his time and resources to uphold close links with the elderly Chinese community; each month local elderly people are invited to dine free at the restaurant. They are also invited for complimentary celebratory meals to mark important dates in the Chinese calendar. He is Chair of The Southside Business Improvement District, the Chair of Birmingham’s Chinese Festival Committee and a Non-Executive Director of a Chinese School.
Born in Birmingham, James travelled to his family's native Hong Kong aged four, but returned just three years later when Chung Ying Cantonese was established by his Mother and Father. He now has his own young family and he is dedicated and proud to be continuing his family’s hard work for the Chung Ying Restaurant Group and the local Chinese community.
